Wolves’ Ruben Neves Joins Al-Hilal for Club Record of €55 Million

We’ve seen many big-name football players join Saudi Arabia's Pro League in recent months, and Ruben Neves is the next one in line. The Wolves captain decided to leave the Premier League behind and signed a record-setting €55 million deal with Al-Hilal. After six seasons with the Wolves and one more year left on his contract, the Portugal midfielder decided it was time for a change. He signed a lucrative deal with the Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal worth €55 million, setting a new club record for the Wolves. Leaving his old club was quite an emotional experience for Neves, who reflected on his “unbelievable journey" in an open letter to the club's supporters. "The way we worked together, the way we fought for the club, what we achieved, and all the moments we spent together was unbelievable. There are no words to describe our dressing room, with a team spirit that I've never experienced before,” said Neves. Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs described Neves as one of the team’s best players, adding he's a leader, a humble man, and an extremely talented footballer who took Wolves to a different level. Since joining the Wolves from Porto in 2017, Neves made 253 appearances, scored 30 goals, and led the team to the EFL Championship win during his first season.
