Tyler Glasnow Joins LA Dodgers in Four-Player Trade Worth $136.5 Million

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been on somewhat of a spending spree lately, and they showing no signs of slowing down. Tyler Glasnow is their latest signing, after the Dodgers agreed to a four-player with Tampa Bay Rays, worth $136.5 million. After five years with the Rays, Glasnow was traded to the Dodgers alongside Manuel Margot, in exchange for Ryan Pepiot and Jonny DeLuca. He has agreed to a five-year contract extension with the Dodgers for $136.5 million, which reportedly comes with a $10 million signing bonus and a $30 million club option for 2028. Before agreeing to his new deal with the Dodgers, Glasnow was set to earn $25 million in 2024 on the final year of his previous contract. That figure has been adjusted into a $15-million salary and $10-million signing bonus. Glasnow’s deal with the Dodgers comes shortly after they signed Shohei Ohtani for a 10-year contract worth $700 million earlier this month. Ohtani made a shocking decision to defer $68 million of his salary per season in an attempt to help the team out. "I figured if I defer as much money as I can, that's going to help the (competitive balance tax) and that's going to help the Dodgers be able to sign better players and make a better team. I felt like that was worth it and I was willing to go that direction," said Ohtani.
