Texas Rangers Clinch Their First World Series Title in Team's 63-Year History

The Texas Rangers’ quest for their very first World Series title lasted over six decades, and it finally came to its triumphant end. The Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks to clinch the very first World Series title in the team’s 63-year history. Texas finished the postseason with a perfect 11–0 in road games, after scoring a 5-0 win over the D-Backs in Game 5 on Wednesday night. Nathan Eovaldi threw six innings of four-hit shutout balls, to become the first pitcher to win six games in a single playoff run. Rookie Evan Carter added a double, while reliever Will Smith made history as the first player to win three consecutive World Series championships with three different clubs. Bruce Bochy made history as the first manager to lead three different teams to the World Series, and coming out of retirement to coach the Rangers has proven to be the right decision. “It's special to come here in my first year with a team that was determined to play winning baseball and had never won a championship… I was along for the ride, trust me. I was very fortunate and blessed to be able to get back into baseball in this type of a situation," said Bochy following his World Series win.
