Team USA Defeats Costa Rica in World Cup Qualifier

Qualifying games for Concacaf World Cup are in full steam, and Team USA is slowly proving itself as one of the front-runners. Their latest qualifier against Costa Rica saw them score another victory, earning three vital points in their World Cup qualifying quest. The face-off between the USA and Costa Rica kicked off by a shocking first-minute goal that Keysher Fuller scored for Los Ticos. The Americans put a lot of effort into overcoming Costa Rica’s early lead, and eventually managed to make a comeback and secure a 2-1 victory. Sergino Dest was in charge of scoring a sensational equalizer for team USA 25 minutes into the game. The biggest shocker came in the second half when Costa Rican goalkeeper Leonel Moreira failed to defend the net from Timothy Weah, and scored what went down as an own goal. Following the match, the United States coach Gregg Berhalter said he’s proud of the effort of his players and praised them for showing a lot of poise and growing as a team. "For us to be navigating through this CONCACAF qualifying – which is a bear, a monster – with this group, and the amount of poise they showed on the field today, particularly going down a goal, and then the second half being up a goal and managing the game really well," said Berhalter.
