T-Wolves Beat Nuggets to Reach First Western Conference Final in 20 Years

The Minnesota Timberwolves entered the conference semi-finals as clear underdogs and managed to beat all the odds along the way. They defeated last year’s champions, the Denver Nuggets, in Game 7 to reach the Western Conference final for the first time in 20 years. The race for the spot in the Western Conference final was pretty intense from the get-go, and it all came down to Game 7 between the T-Wolves and Nuggets. It was anyone’s game on Sunday night, and Minnesota was down on their luck, entering halftime with a 15-point deficit. Denver was on top of their game, with Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic adding 35 and 34 points for their side, respectively, but it wasn’t enough to claim a win. The T-Wolves managed to make a comeback and scored a thrilling 98-90 victory that propelled them to the Western Conference final for the first time since 2004. Even after this victory, the T-Wolves still have a long way to go, but head coach Chris Finch is proud of how much they’ve accomplished this season. "We said from the beginning and as the season was unfolding—why not us? The league's wide open. We're not in a dynastic period. As proven, there's going to be a new champion this year. So everything's still to play for, but a long, long way to go," said Finch.
