Shohei Ohtani Makes History by Hitting Two Homers and Striking Out 10

Shohei Ohtani is one of the best baseball players of his generation, and his latest game with the Los Angeles Angels was one for the books. The Japanese pitcher hit two homers and struck out 10 against the Chicago White Sox, becoming the first American League pitcher in nearly 60 years to do so. Ohtani lifted Los Angeles to a 4-2 victory against Chicago, and his time on the pitch was quite memorable. Ohtani entered the game as the designated hitter and hit his second homer in the bottom of the seventh inning, bringing his season total to 28 home runs and making history along the way. Ohtani is the first American League pitcher in almost six decades to two homers and struck out 10 in a single game. The last AL player to do it before Ohtani was Cleveland’s Pedro Ramos on July 31, 1963, while four other players have done it in the majors. Manager Phil Nevin was in awe of Ohtani after the match, and he said that, “We’re seeing things every day that we’ve never seen before and you try not to take it for granted.” Chicago manager Pedro Grifol also praised Ohtani and described him as “extremely talented” and “probably the best player in the game.”
