Roberto Firmino Leaves Liverpool for Saudi Club Al-Ahli

We’ve seen several A-list stars make their move to Saudi Arabia's lucrative Pro League, and Roberto Firmino is the next one in line. After leaving Liverpool at the end of last season, the Brazilian player signed a three-year deal with the Saudi club Al-Ahli. Firmino is the latest football player to join a host of other top stars in Saudi Arabia, as this country tries to raise the profile of its lucrative Pro League. Cristiano Ronaldo kicked off this trend when he joined Al-Nassr earlier this year, and Karim Benzema, Jota, and Ruben Neves are only some of the players who followed in his footsteps. Firmino confirmed his transfer in a video posted on Twitter by the club to announce his signing, saying, “I always played for big teams, now I am in Al-Ahli.” Firmino scored 111 goals in 362 games with Liverpool over the course of the past eight years, and he has a lot to be proud of after winning the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, and English League Cup with the Reds "The cycle here is ended and I understand it is time to go… We are leaving a great legacy. I'm very grateful to God for all that. I am so proud of what we achieved here together. For everything that the club did for me and for my family, I’m so happy for everything," said Firmino.
