This year’s FIFA Club World Cup final was one for the books, and Real Madrid managed to win their record-extending fifth title. They defeated Al-Hilal in a remarkable eight-goal thriller, that saw Vinicius Jr and Federico Valverde score two goals each. Luck was on Madrid’s side from the get-go, and Vinicius Jr put his side on the scoreboard just 13 minutes into the game, while Valverde gave them a 2-0 lead just five minutes later. They both went on to score two more goals in the second half, along with Karim Benzema, who netted one. Al-Hilal made history as the first Saudi team to reach the final, and they did their best to stand their ground against Real. They made quite a comeback in the second half, but Madrid was stronger, and they eventually won 5-3. Madrid’s coach Carlo Ancelotti hailed Vinicius Jr and Federico Valverde for being on top of their game throughout the match and praised the rest of the players for leading the team to another major win. “This trophy gives us a boost to prepare this end of the season, and we still have a lot of confidence. It's been a good tournament for us, the improvement we've seen in recent games, the rest of the season we're excited to fight until the end in every minute, every game, every competition," said Ancelotti post-match. The 2022 FIFA Club World Cup took place in Rabat, Morocco on February 11, and it marks Real Madrid’s fifth FIFA Club World Cup title and eighth club world championship.
