New York Yankees End Their Winning Streak After Losing to Athletics

The Yankees managed to reach their longest winning streak in nearly 60 years, but all good things must come to an end. The Yankees fell 3-2 to the Athletics this Saturday in Oakland, ending their historic winning streak after 13 games. It didn't take long for the Yankees to fall behind their opponents after Tony Kemp’s two-out single gave the Athletics the lead. Oakland reached 2-0 thanks to Sean Murphy, while Frankie Montas lead his team to victory when he pitched seven shutout innings. The end of this winning streak was a huge disappointment for the Yankees fans, but the team's outfielder Aaron Judge sees it as a source of motivation that will give his teammates a push in the right direction. “A loss is a loss. It’s time to start another streak, that’s all. We didn’t get the job done, so it’s time to turn the page. (The streak) showed what we’re capable of. This team is capable of a lot of great things,” said Judge. Before their winning streak was broken, the Yankees won a total of 13 consecutive games, marking the fifth-longest winning streak in the team's history. This also happens to be the longest winning streak in baseball since 2017, when Cleveland Indians rocked our world with their historic 22-game winning streak.
