Manchester City Brave Snowstorm to Defeat West Ham United 2-1

Manchester City players knew they’ll have to face many obstacles to beat West Ham United this Sunday, but there was one they didn’t see coming. A heavy snowstorm held both teams back, but Man City managed to come out victorious and secure a 2-1 win. The thick snow was falling for most of the first half, and Man City eventually took the lead with the 33rd-minute opener from Ilkay Gundogan. The Brazilian veteran Fernandinho scored the second goal for the team in the final minute, marking his first Premier League goal since 2018. West Ham tried to make a comeback, but it was already too late to turn a loss into a draw when Manuel Lanzini scored an added-time consolation goal. The Man City boss Pep Guardiola praised the effort of the players in the harsh weather conditions but acknowledged the fact they would’ve played even better if the snowstorm wasn’t standing in their way. "We didn't concede much. We defended the set-pieces really well and counter-attacks we controlled. We could maybe make another speed, another rhythm but weather conditions didn't allow us to do it and it was a good performance from us," said Guardiola. This win lifts Man City back up to second place in the Premier League rankings, right behind Chelsea.
