Man City Ends Its League Cup Domination After Losing to West Ham

Manchester City has been dominating the League Cup for four seasons, but their reign has come to an end. They handed the crown to West Ham United, after an unpredictable game that the Hammers managed to win thanks to their impressive performance in a penalty shootout. The latest clash between Man City and West Ham was goalless 90 minutes later, and drastic measures had to be taken. Things weren’t looking so great for Man City after Phil Foden missed the first penalty, and everything went downhill from there. West Ham managed to score all of their penalties, thanks to Mark Noble, Jarrod Bowen, Craig Dawson, Aaron Cresswell, and Said Benrahma. The Hammers eventually ended the game by winning 5-3 on penalties, and even the Man City boss Pep Guardiola gave them the credit for doing a better job. "On penalties, they were better, congratulations to West Ham and we'll be back next year. Unfortunately, Phil missed it, but it's experience and when you get this kind of experience, next time he will be better," said Guardiola after the match. This marks the first time since 2016 that Man City has been eliminated from the League Cup since losing to Manchester United at the same stage five years ago.
