Liverpool Ends Arsenal's Unbeaten Run with 4-0 Thrashing

Arsenal was on fire since the beginning of the Premier League, but they found their match in Liverpool. The Reds ended the Gunners' 10-game unbeaten run with a 4-0 thrashing on Saturday night. Arsenal stood their ground in the first half, but things went downhill after Sadio Mane scored an epic opener for Liverpool, 39 minutes into the game. The second half was downright embarrassing for the Gunners, as their long-standing rival turned things around with three goals from Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah, and Takumi Minamino. Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta described the 4-0 defeat to Liverpool as “a huge test” and acknowledged they failed to patiently build the game in their favor after half-time. “When we had to grow momentum at the start of the second half we gave the game away. We gave the ball away under no pressure and were punished. They had all of the momentum. They were the better team and that is the level,” said Arteta, according to The Guardian. Arsenal was just two points behind Liverpool prior to kick-off, following a series of ten victories. That changed on Saturday night, as Liverpool’s latest win saw them jump up to the second spot in the Premier League, while Arsenal remains in fifth.
