Juan Soto Joins NY Yankees in Blockbuster Trade with San Diego Padres

The Dominican outfielder has been traded to the New York Yankees as a part of a blockbuster, seven-player trade. The Padres sent Soto to New York, along with the center fielder Trent Grisham, in exchange for pitchers Jhony Brito and Randy Vásquez, starter Michael King, pitching prospect Drew Thorpe, and veteran catcher Kyle Higashioka. Padres general manager A.J. Preller discussed the blockbuster trade at a late-night conference and admitted it was very difficult to let the player of Juan Soto’s caliber go. “They had a need and Juan is an incredible player and fit the need really well.
