Jeff McNeil Signs $50 Million Extension with New York Mets

Jeff McNeil spent the entirety of his MLB career with the New York Mets, and he’s not going anywhere anytime soon. He’ll be sticking around Flushing for the foreseeable future after signing a four-year deal with the Mets, reportedly worth $50 million. McNeil and the Mets were scheduled to go to an arbitration hearing but eventually managed to reach an agreement that works for both sides. McNeil’s extension delays his potential free agency by two years because it buys out his final two years of arbitration and could extend to $63.75 million because it comes with a club option for 2027. McNeil recently discussed the team’s future during an appearance on the MLB Network Radio, including Jacob deGrom’s recent departure. Even though he hadn’t signed his new deal yet at the time, his comments made it clear he was not leaving New York. “I know losing deGrom is going to hurt a little bit, but we’re replacing him with Verlander, who’s just as good… I think our pitching staff may’ve gotten even better. I’m looking forward to playing behind them, and having other new teammates as well,” he told the MLB Network Radio. McNeil has been with the Mets since 2018, and he won the MLB Batting Title and the Silver Slugger Award in 2022.
