Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks International Goal Scoring Record

Cristiano Ronaldo is no stranger to breaking records, but his latest career milestone may be his most significant one yet. He broke the world record for goals scored in men's international football during a recent World Cup qualifying match between Portugal and Ireland. The record was previously held by Ali Daei, who scored 109 goals for Iran between 1993 and 2006, but Ronaldo managed to surpass him. He hit his 110th and 111th goals for Portugal to set another major career landmark, and he was overjoyed to achieve this accomplishment. "I'm so happy, not only because I beat the record, but for the special moment that we had. Two goals at the end of the game. I have to appreciate what the team did, we believed until the end. I'm so glad," Ronaldo told RTE. This record cements the Portuguese player as one of the old-time greats, but he’s yet to beat the overall goal-scoring record. The Canadian striker Christine Sinclair is holding the women's record with 187 goals on the international stage, and she hasn’t retired just yet. Ronaldo's latest record-breaking achievement comes shortly after his transfer to Manchester United. He’s set to make his debut on September 11 against Newcastle United, and he’ll be rocking the no. 7 jersey, previously worn by such icons as Eric Cantona and David Beckham.
