Chicago Cubs Trade Anthony Rizzo to the New York Yankees

In an unexpected turn of events that no one saw coming, Chicago Cubs announced their decision to trade Anthony Rizzo to the New York Yankees. The All-Star player was traded in exchange for two prospects – minor league pitcher Alexander Vizcaino and outfielder Kevin Alcantara. Rizzo joined Chicago Cubs in 2012 as the first baseman and went on to become a three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove winner. After ten seasons with the North Siders, he’s ready for a new challenge. "I think this is a great opportunity and I'm really fortunate to be going to the New York Yankees. It's the No. 1 sports franchise in the world. It's going to be a fun ride. I can't wait to get there and just try to settle in as fast as I can,” said Rizzo, according to MLB’s Bryan Hoch. During his time with the Cubs, Rizzo has appeared in 1,308 games, hit 242 home runs with 784 RBI’s to his credit. His last season with the team, however, wasn’t so glorious and he struggled to give it his all due to several injuries that slowed him down. The news of his trade comes shortly after the Yankees acquired All-Star outfielder Joey Gallo from Texas Rangers.
