Carlos Alcaraz Makes History with His First French Open Victory

Carlos Alcaraz has been dreaming of lifting the trophy in Paris ever since he became a tennis player, and his dream finally came true. He defeated Alexander Zverev to win his first French Open title, making history as the youngest player to win a Grand Slam on every surface. After eliminating Rafael Nadal in the first round of the competition, Zverev faced many formidable opponents on his way to the final but couldn't stand his ground against Alcaraz. Zverev took the lead after making a comeback in the third set, but Alcaraz eventually managed to recover and won 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 after five sets on the Roland Garros clay. Lifting the French Open is the realization of a lifelong dream for Alcaraz, who joined the long list of Spanish champions, including his trainer Juan Carlos Ferrero and the 14-time winner Rafael Nadal. "Winning a Grand Slam is always special, but here in Roland Garros, knowing all the Spanish players who have won here, to put my name on that list is unbelievable. I dreamt of being in this position since I started playing tennis when I was five or six years old," Alcaraz told the reporters. This marks Alcaraz’s first Grand Slam victory on clay, and he became the youngest man to win Grand Slam titles on every surface, having previously won the US Open in 2022 and Wimbledon in 2023.
