Borussia Dortmund Score First Major Win of Champions League Semi-Finals

Two Champions League semi-final matches took place this week, but only one of them resulted in a major victory. Borussia Dortmund secured a win against Paris Saint Germain, while the face-off between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid resulted in a draw. Borussia and PSG came head to head on Wednesday, and things didn’t go according to plan for the French team. Despite coming into this match as an obvious front-runner, they lost composure in the first half, allowing Niclas Fullkrug to swoop in and give Dortmund a 1-0 lead, that they later transformed into a win. Even Kylian Mbappe couldn’t help PSG even out the score, but he gave it a shot on several occasions. His most significant attempt came in in the 51st minute, when Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi both hit the post within seconds of each other, but failed to score the goal. The match between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid took place a day earlier, and it was even more frantic. The front-runner in this semi-final is yet to emerge because the first leg resulted in a dramatic 2-2 draw. Vinícius Júnior opened the scoring for Real Madrid before Leroy Sane and Harry Kane gave Bayern a well-deserved lead, but it all came crashing down seven minutes before the final whistle when Vinícius Júnior evened out the score with his second goal.
