Atlanta Braves Score Their First World Series Win Since 1995

Baseball wouldn’t be the same without incredible underdog stories, and Atlanta Braves just gave us one to remember. They managed to score their first World Series title since 1995, after a triumphant 7-0 win against the Houston Astros on Tuesday night. In just three months, the Braves went from a team that had not spent a day over .500 to being crowned as champions of the World Series. They were gathering momentum ever since August, and Jorge Soler eventually led them to an epic win with a 446-foot blast in the third inning. Soler has been crowned as the World Series MVP, becoming only the second Cuban-born player to reach this milestone. He’s “extremely excited” about this achievement, and he explained how his historic score came about. "I was just really focused during that at-bat. I feel like he had thrown me every pitch that he had in his arsenal, so I just kept fouling the pitches off, eventually got into that 3-2 count and he hung the slider and I was able to drive it," said Soler through his interpreter Franco Garcia. Soler has only been with the Braves for a few months, after being traded from the Kansas City Royals, and he’s expected to become a free agent this winter.
