Alexander Zverev Returns to Tennis After Six-Month Injury Break

It’s been over half a year since we’ve seen Alexander Zverev play his last match, but he’s finally ready for a comeback. The German tennis player ended his six-month-long injury break at the Diriyah Tennis Cup exhibition but was eventually eliminated from the tournament. Zverev took a break from tennis after turning his ankle during his French Open semi-final against Rafael Nadal back in June. It took some time for his tore ligaments to recover, but he finally decided to give tennis another try at the exhibition tournament in Saudi Arabia. Former world no. 2 managed to defeat Dominic Thiem in his opening match, but his celebration wasn’t long-lived. He faced Daniil Medvedev in the next round, and couldn’t stand his ground to the former US Open champion, who defeated him 6-4, 6-0. Despite his loss against Medvedev, Zverev was happy with his performance because he just wanted to have fun and entered the tournament knowing he won’t be able to give 100% right away. "I probably won't play my best tennis in Dubai at the exhibition either. I hope it will get better with every day and be there at the Australian Open like I want it to be. Hopefully, I quickly find the form I had this year and last year, and maybe find even better form,” said Zverev.
