US Open Champion Emma Raducanu Reflects on Her Historic Victory

Emma Raducanu was one of the biggest breakout stars of this year's US Open and made history as the first British woman in 44 years to win a Grand Slam singles title. About a week after scoring her US Open win, she finally made it back home and described her final match at this tournament as a "whirlwind of an experience". Following the US Open finale, Raducanu made appearances on several talk shows and even attended the star-studded Met Gala before heading back to the UK. Shortly after her return, she set down with BBC Breakfast and admitted that her historic win is "gradually sinking in". "It's still such a whirlwind of an experience. I've loved every moment of it but it is something that is difficult to comprehend. When I was watching it [the final] it almost feels like that's not me who's playing and pulling off some of those shots," said the 18-year-old tennis champion. Raducanu took part in the first all-teenage Grand Slam final in over 20 years and managed to score a straight-set victory against Leylah Fernandez. When it comes to her plans for the future, the British teen is happy that her WTA ranking significantly improved after the US Open finale because she can now "play the biggest tournaments" and "compete with the very best".
