Tiger Woods Says He’s “Playing to Win" Following His Latest Comeback

After trying to make a comeback last year and then taking a seven-month-long break, Tiger Woods is back at it again! The legendary golfer will go back to competing at the PGA Tour's Genesis Invitational, and he said that he’s “playing to win”. Before the Genesis Invitational kicked off at Riviera Country Club in southern California, Woods addressed his comeback and said he wouldn’t have put himself out there if he didn’t think he was capable of beating the competition. "There will come a point in time when my body won't allow me to do that and it's probably sooner than later. But wrapping my hand around that transition and being in an ambassador role - just playing and just trying to be with the guys out there - it is not in my DNA," said Woods. The former no. 1 hit a rough patch after suffering severe leg injuries in a car crash in 2021. He tried to return to golf in 2022 but ended up doing just nine rounds of competitive golf last year after withdrawing from the US PGA Championship in the third round and coming 47th at the Masters Tournament. PGA Tour's Genesis Invitational marks Wood’s first public round of golf since his exhibition match at last December's PNC Championship, and he’s set to play with Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy in the first two rounds.
