Spain and Sweden Make It To European Men's Handball Championship Semi-Finals

Several top teams clashed to secure a spot in European Men's Handball Championship semi-finals on Tuesday, but only two managed to book their places. Spain and Sweden are staying in the competition after scoring dramatic one-point victories over Poland and Norway. Spain will have a chance to keep defending their title after beating Poland 28-27, netting their sixth successive semi-final at the Handball Championship overall. They came into the match as clear favorites, and led the way with 14-13 at the interval, after a series of epic goals coming from fast breaks. As for Sweden, they had to face tough competition in Norway and odds weren’t in their favor in the first half. Norway led 14-9 at the interval, but Sweden managed to make a comeback and cut the gap midway through the second half before finishing the game with a 24–23 win thanks to Valter Chrinz’s late penalty. Denmark previously secured a semi-final place before being joined by Spain and Sweden. The fourth spot in the semi-finals will be taken by France or Iceland, depending on the outcome of their upcoming matches against Denmark and Montenegro. European Men's Handball Championship semi-finals will take place on Friday, while the winner will be determined on January 30.
