Scottie Scheffler’s rise to prominence was a joy to watch, and he managed to prove his domination at the Players Championship. The 26-year-old golfer returned to no. 1 in the world rankings after scoring a commanding five-shot victory at TPC Sawgrass. Scheffler defeated Tyrrell Hatton and Viktor Hovland to come on top, and his latest win was quite impressive. He managed to close with a three-under 69 to win on 17 under after holing five birdies on the trot midway through his round, eventually winning by five strokes. This was the largest margin of victory in The Players Championship since 2006 when Stephen Ames won by six strokes. Scheffler also became the third player to win the Masters Tournament and The Players Championship in a twelve-month span, after Woods and Jack Nicklaus. Scheffler managed to stay pretty humble despite recent his successes and he believes there’s still a lot of room for improvement despite being the no. 1. "I'm just hoping to improve. I'm just trying to get a little bit better at a time, not overthink things and fortunately, I've been able to see some good results and enjoy some wins… I like the challenge of harder golf courses. This tournament feels like a major championship to me," said Scheffler.
