Sacramento Kings Beat Brooklyn Nets to Clinch First Winning Season in 17 Years

The Sacramento Kings’ playoff drought lasted for almost two decades, but it finally came to an end. The Kings defeated the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night and managed to clinch their first winning season in 17 years. Domantas Sabonis is one of the players responsible for the Kings’ latest win, after finishing the game with 24 points and 21 rebounds. He had great support from De'Aaron Fox, who added 18 points, six rebounds, and five assists, helping Sacramento score a narrow 101-96 win. Harrison Barnes, who’s been with the Kings since 2019 and experienced many ups and downs with the team, said he considers himself fortunate to be a part of this moment. “I think being here for over four years now, and seeing the bottom — the very bottom — and to see the frustration of fans and the people in the organization, I think it’s nice to be on the other side of it,” said Barnes. The Sacramento Kings haven’t made it to the playoffs since 2005-06, and this marks their first winning season in 17 years. Mike Brown is largely responsible for their success, after leaving his assistant coaching position with the Golden State Warriors to become the King’s head coach last year.
