Ronnie O'Sullivan Wins Record Seventh World Snooker Championship Title

The world. 1 Ronnie O'Sullivan came into this year’s World Snooker Championship as one of the favorites, and he lived up to everyone’s expectations. He claimed his seventh title at the tournament, equalizing the record previously held by Stephen Hendry. The World Championship came to its final stage on Monday, when O'Sullivan defeated Judd Trump 18-13. In addition to tying Hendry’s title record, he also became the oldest world champion in snooker history at 46, surpassing Ray Reardon. O'Sullivan downplayed his latest record, saying it’s just a number and that he doesn’t “get too caught up in that”. He added that it feels good to share the record with Hendry, and the iconic Scottish player echoed his words, adding that he wouldn’t be surprised if O'Sullivan broke his record one day. "It's an honor to be at seven world titles with Ronnie. He's an artist. He's a winning machine. He says he's not bothered about records but he will want eight. It's been an astounding performance, the way he's dominated this tournament," Hendry told BBC. Since turning professional in 1992, O’Sullivan built a reputation as one of the most accomplished players in snooker history. He won record 39 ranking titles over the course of his career, including 21 Triple Crown titles across snooker’s most prestigious events – the World Championship, the UK Championship, and the invitational Masters.
