Philadelphia 76ers Hit Losing Streak in Joel Embiid’s Absence

The Philadelphia 76ers have been struggling to find their footing since the beginning of the season, and things got even worse for them this week. They lost four consecutive games, ever since it was announced that Joel Embiid will miss several games due to health and safety protocols. The 76ers’ latest loss came in Saturday’s game against the Indiana Pacers when they lost 113-118. This is just the latest in a disappointing series of losses since they also failed to beat New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks, and Toronto Raptors earlier this week. All these losses come in the days following the announcement that Embiid will sit out at least five games after a positive COVID-19 test. The Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers said that Embiid was “struggling” following his diagnosis, and admitted he’s concerned about the current situation because he’s not the first member of the team to test positive. "It clearly is a concern. We have to just keep trying to find ways to play to win to score and do whatever we have to and we've done that this far. We're going to play. We're going to compete," said Rivers while discussing Embiid’s absence back on Tuesday. Embiid joins forward Tobias Harris and guards Matisse Thybulle and Isaiah Joe as the fourth 76er to be out due to health and safety protocols. His return date is yet to be announced, but he could potentially come back sometime late next week.
