Connor McDavid was on top of his game since joining the Edmonton Oilers in 2015, and he’s showing no signs of stopping. Just 56 games into the season, McDavid has already hit the 100-point mark, making this the sixth time in his career that he managed to reach this milestone. McDavid joined the Oilers on Friday against the New York Rangers and notched his 100th point with a secondary assist on an Edmonton power-play goal. He now has 42 goals and 58 assists in 56 games this season, and his latest milestone comes shortly after he became the fastest NHL player to 40 goals in a season since Pavel Bure in 2000. McDavid is the 16th player in NHL history with at least six 100-point seasons. He’s been in NHL for eight seasons now and failed to reach the 100-point mark just two times – during his rookie season, when he posted 48 in 45 games, and back in 2019 when he was just three points short. Despite McDavid’s best efforts, the Oilers ended up losing to the Rangers 5-4 after coming back from a 4-1 first-period deficit. “We did a lot of good things on the power play and capitalized on some chances. That’s a credit to us, but we have to find a way to close that one out,” McDavid said post-game.
