Novak Djokovic Makes an Epic US Open Comeback After Dropping Two Sets

Novak Djokovic is currently on the quest to win his record-equaling 24th Grand Slam title at the US Open, but his time at this tournament was almost cut short. The tennis champion survived a major scare in a match against Laslo Djere and recovered from a two-set deficit to make it to the fourth round. Djokovic came into this year’s US Open as one of the front-runners for the title, but his chances weren’t looking so great in the third round. After easily cruising past Alexandre Müller and Bernabé Zapata Miralles, Djokovic met his most formidable opponent of the tournament so far in his fellow Serb Laslo Djere. After losing the first two sets 4-6 4-6, it was clear that Djokovic was down on his luck, but he didn’t let the slow start shake him. He regained his form, and easily won the next three sets to continue his remarkable run at Flushing Meadows. "I did a pep talk in the mirror. It worked. I laughed at myself because I was so agitated and annoyed with the game. I had to force myself to lift my spirits," said Djokovic after the match. Djokovic is currently chasing his 24th Grand Slam title at the US Open, and he’ll equal Margaret Court’s landmark record if he manages to come out victorious.
