Novak Djokovic Fails to Complete Calendar Grand Slam After US Open Loss

All eyes were on Novak Djokovic during the US Open finale, as he tried to write his name in history books by completing the coveted calendar Grand Slam. His dream was crushed by Daniil Medvedev, who stopped his winning strike in New York and was crowned as the US Open winner. Djokovic lost 6-4 6-4 6-4 to Medvedev on Sunday and failed to achieve two major tennis milestones along the way. Following his victories at the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon earlier this year, his fans were hoping he’ll become the first person in over 50 years to complete the calendar Grand Slam. Djokovic was also chasing his 21st Grand Slam men's title but failed to break the record that he’s currently sharing with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Despite the loss, Djokovic admitted it was good to have the crowd inside the Arthur Ashe Stadium rooting for him, and he took a moment to thank them for their support. "Even though I haven't won the match I am the happiest man alive because you guys made me very special on the court. You guys touched my soul. I've never felt like this in New York," said tearful Serb after the match and admitted that he feels relief now that his quest for the calendar Grand Slam is finally over.
