Michael Porter Jr. Signs 5-Year Extension with Denver Nuggets

Michael Porter Jr. has been with the Denver Nuggets since the very start of his NBA career, and he’ll be staying with them for a very long time. He agreed to a five-year designated max extension with the Nuggets, and he’ll be walking away with a reported $207 million. ESPN reported that Porter will secure $207 if he makes one of the three All-NBA teams this season. If he fails to reach this milestone, the Nuggets forward will secure the five-year rookie max of $172 million, which is still an impressive sum considering he’s earning just $5.3 million for the 2021-22 season under his old contract. Even before his contract extension was finalized on Monday, Porter was pretty confident he’ll stay with the Nuggets and confirmed it while chatting with Mike Singer of the Denver Post. "Everything is sounding great, in the direction that I'd like to be headed. Nothing is set in stone, but everything is going smooth as far as that goes," he said earlier this month. Porter was selected by the Nuggets in the 2018 NBA draft but hadn’t made his debut until 2019 due to lingering injuries. He went on to appear in 61 games for Denver and averaged 19 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
