Luka Doncic Agrees to Five-Year, $207 Million Extension with Dallas Mavericks

Luka Doncic has established himself as one of the superstar players on Dallas Mavericks since joining the team in 2018, and he’s getting ready to lead them to new victories. The Slovenian NBA player signed a five-year rookie extension deal, worth $207 million. The deal with the Slovenian superstar was sealed only a few days after he led his national basketball team to a fourth-place finish at the Tokyo Olympics. It's truly a landmark for a player of his tenure because it comes with a maximum rookie salary extension. Doncic joined Mavericks in 2018, and it didn’t take him long to rise through the ranks. He won the Rookie of the Year title for the 2018–19 season and went on to become a two-time All-Star player. He averaged 27.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 8.6 assists last season, and he’s looking forward to helping his team reach new heights. "Today is a dream come true. The game of basketball has given me so much and has taken me to so many amazing places. I am humbled and excited to remain in Dallas as part of the Mavericks,” Doncic told ESPN in a statement and added he’s planning to increase his efforts with the Luka Doncic Foundation after finalizing the contract.
