Lewis Hamilton Plotting His F1 Return Following Abu Dhabi Debacle

F1 fans were left wondering if Lewis Hamilton would step back from racing after his controversial loss at the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but he’s not going anywhere. The British race driver recently revealed he was never planning to step back from racing, and he’s getting ready for a comeback. Hamilton’s F1 future became a mystery after he lost the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix back in December. He was in the clear lead for most of the race, but Max Verstappen managed to overtake the lead in the final lap after a late safety-car period. “It was obviously a difficult time for me and it was a time where I really needed to take a step back and focus on being present… I eventually got to a point where I decided I was going to be attacking again coming into another season and working with Toto and George,” said Hamilton at the launch of the new Mercedes W13. He also downplayed retirement rumors, adding he never said that he’s going to stop. The F1 champion did admit that the Abu Dhabi debacle made him lose a little bit of faith in the system, but he doesn’t want this moment to define his career. He will once again reteam with Mercedes next season, and he’ll be joined by a new teammate – the fellow Briton George Russell.
