Kim Joo-hyung Makes History with Wyndham Championship Win

The Wyndham Championship returned to North Carolina this weekend, and it was quite a historic event. The 20-year-old Kim Joo-hyung took the trophy home, scoring his first PGA Tour win and becoming the second-youngest player this century to win in Wyndham. Odds weren’t really on his side after he opened the tournament with a quadruple bogey, but the South Korean newcomer managed to make an epic comeback. He finished the tournament five strokes ahead of fellow South Korean player Im Sung-jae and American John Huh. Kim Joo-hyung is the first player born in the 2000s to score a PGA Tour victory and also the second-youngest to do so since 1932. Jordan Spieth still holds the record as the youngest PGA Tour winner after winning the 2015 John Deere Classic at 19 years, 11 months, and 18 days. Kim gained entry into the 2022 FedEx Cup Playoffs with his win in Wyndham. He’s proud of his victory at this tournament, especially since he wasn’t off to such a great start. "I stayed very patient this week. Instead of getting angry and depressed, I stayed in the moment and I can't believe I won with a quadruple bogey on the first hole. Hopefully, that doesn't happen again but it's definitely a week that I will remember forever," Kim Joo-hyung told CBS.
