That didn’t stop Jon Rahm from coming out victorious, and he managed to lift the trophy at Augusta National for the first time. Rahm kept his nerve and patience throughout four days of the messy tournament that threw many curveballs his way. The tournament was suspended on several occasions, due to the threat of approaching thunderstorms and tree trees even ended up falling on the course at one point on Friday. It wasn’t an easy game to win, but Rahm kept his cool and managed to shoot a three-under-par 69 in the final round, beating Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson by four shots. This marks his first win at the Masters Tournament and the second major championship victory overall, following the U.S. Open in 2021. “We all dream of things like this as players, and you try to visualize what it’s going to be like and what it’s going to feel like. Never thought I was going to cry by winning a golf tournament, but I got very close on that 18th hole… It’s pretty incredible,” said Rahm. Rahm reclaimed no. 1 ranking following his victory and became the fourth golfer from Spain to win the Masters Tournament.
