Golden State Warriors End Phoenix Suns’ 18-Game Winning Streak

The Phoenix Suns’ 18-game winning streak was a joy to watch, but all good things must come to an end. After a month with no losses, the Suns dropped the ball against the Golden State Warriors on Friday night in a blowout 118-96 loss. Stephen Curry wasn’t really on top of his game against the Suns, but that didn’t stop him from leading his team to victory. He canned 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists for the Warriors, closely followed by Andrew Wiggins and Gary Payton II right behind with 19 points each. Deandre Ayton tried to lead his teammates to victory with 23 points, but it just wasn’t enough. The Suns struggled to catch up, as their leading scorer Devin Booker had to miss the game due to a hamstring injury, sustained while playing against the Warriors on Tuesday. Warriors coach Steve Kerr was fully aware that the odds aren’t in their favor going into the game. They already lost to the Suns 104-96 on Tuesday but managed to flip the script in the rematch only a few days later. “We know that we’re trying to catch them, not vice-versa. We haven’t been in the playoffs for two years. We’re trying to catch them and we know they’re the best team in the West until somebody knocks them off,” Kerr said after defeating the Suns.
