Four-Time World Champion Sebastian Vettel Retiring After 2022 Season

Sebastian Vettel has been dominating the world of racing for quite some time, and he’s finally ready to say goodbye. The 35-year-old driver and four-time Formula 1 World Champion said that he’s retiring at the end of this season. In the official statement announcing his retirement, the German driver said he’s spent a lot of time thinking about it, but eventually decided it’s the best choice for him and his family. "At the end of the year, I want to take some more time to reflect on what I will focus on next… Today is not about saying goodbye. Rather, it is about saying thank you – to everyone - not least to the fans, without whose passionate support Formula 1 could not exist," said Vettel. His decision to retire doesn’t come as a huge shocker since he had a pretty rocky season with Aston Martin after leaving Ferrari. Vettel acknowledged that the team’s results have not been as good as he had hoped, but added that he enjoyed his time with Aston Martin and that he hopes his work will be helpful in the development of a team in the future. Vettel rose to prominence during the early 2010s when he won four consecutive World Championships for Red Bull. He signed for Ferrari in 2015 and finished as a runner-up in 2017 and 2018, behind Lewis Hamilton.
