Derrick Brown has been with the Carolina Panthers since the very start of his NFL career, and he’s not going anywhere. The defensive end signed a $96 million extension with the Panthers that will keep him in Carolina for another four seasons. Brown had only one year left on his rookie deal, but he’s now contracted through the 2028 season after signing his extension with the Panthers. His new deal includes $63.165 million guaranteed and it comes with a $24-million average salary, making him the fourth highest-paid defensive tackle in the NFL right now. Despite Carolina's 2-15 finish in 2023, this past season has been quite memorable for Brown. He earned his first Pro Bowl berth and set an NFL record for a defensive lineman with 103 total tackles. Renewing Brown’s deal was a no-brainer for the Panthers, according to the team’s defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, especially after “a hack of a year” that he just had. "He's really, he's a heck of a player. What you see in him is just continued growth and maturation and learning the NFL game, understanding, not only using his physical ability, but also all the nuances of the game that come with experience, and all of that is just playing out,” said Evero.
