Dan Evans Beats Andy Murray to Lead England to Battle of the Brits Win

The Battle of Brits offered an epic face-off between some of the best players from the UK, and Team England came out victorious. Dan Evans led England to an epic victory by beating Andy Murray in the two-day tournament’s final match. Andy Murray and his brother Jamie represented the Scottish side and were joined by Great Britain’s top tennis players in two-action packed days of tennis at Aberdeen’s P&J Arena. Shortly after Neal Skupski and Paul Jubb defeated Jamie Murray and Jonny O'Mara 6-4 5-7 10-6 in the doubles, Dan Evans replicated their success in the singles against Andy Murray. He scored a 6-4 3-6 10-8 against the three-time Grand Slam champion, leading Team England to a much-deserved 8-4 win over Scotland. Evans admitted it was a tough match to win, especially after a long and difficult year. "It was tough. More physically, you know, we've been training a long time both of us through November, December. Nothing really gets you ready for a tough match like that. You can train as much as you want,” said Evans. Andy Murray said he’s proud of his brother Jamie for putting this event together and said it meant a lot to both of them to see how Scottish players showed up, competed well, and went after it.
