After spending his entire NBA career with the Portland State Blazers, Damian Lillard is ready to move on. The 33-year-old point guard was traded from Portland to the Milwaukee Bucks as a part of a blockbuster three-team deal that also involved the Phoenix Suns. After an entire decade with the Blazers, Lillard was traded to the Bucks in exchange for Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, and a 2029 first-round draft pick to the Blazers. The Phoenix Suns were also involved in this deal, and they managed to land Grayson Allen, Jusuf Nurkić, Nassir Little, and Keon Johnson. Following this blockbuster deal, Lillard took to social media to bid farewell to his fans in Portland. He thanked them for embracing him from day one and being a part of the many unforgettable memories he made in Rip City. “I was the young, new, confident, chip on my shoulder, prideful, competitive, Rip City-loving, mid-major PG that you all couldn’t get enough of. Now I’m older and on my way out the door, a door that I always prayed would lead to retirement — not another team. I leave with nothing but love for the fans and this city,” wrote Lillard in his emotional statement. Lillard joined the Portland Trail Blazers as the sixth overall pick in 2012 and was unanimously voted the NBA Rookie of the Year during his debut season. He went on to receive seven NBA All-Star and seven All-NBA Team selections, becoming the first player in the team’s history to do so.
