Caroline Wozniacki’s return to tennis has been a joy to watch, and it will continue at the upcoming Australian Open. The Danish tennis player received a wildcard to compete at the next edition of this tournament, where she won her first and only Grand Slam title in 2018. The Australian Open officials released a statement announcing that Wozniacki has been awarded a main-draw wildcard for 2024, along with six Aussie talents. The first Grand Slam of the year will return to Melbourne Park on January 14, with Aryna Sabalenka defending the title in women’s singles. The Australian Open will mark Wozniacki’s second Grand Slam since her return to tennis this summer. She retired in 2020 but decided to make a comeback at the US Open after giving birth to two children. She eventually reached the fourth round before losing to Coco Gauff, who later won the tournament. The 33-year-old is looking forward to returning to the Australian Open, and she told The AO Show podcast that she has many wonderful memories of this tournament after lifting the trophy in 2018. “Melbourne’s one of my most favorite cities in the world, and I can’t wait to share it with my family and my kids. It’s obviously a tournament I feel extremely comfortable at I hope that I get a nice welcome back when I see everyone there - and I’m sure I will,” said Wozniacki.
