Carmelo Anthony “Can’t Be At Peace” If He Doesn’t Win Title with Lakers

Carmelo Anthony is one of the veteran superstars who’s joining the Lakers this season, and he has big ambitions for his time with this team. The NBA legend recently said that he won’t be at peace if he doesn’t win a championship with the Lakers before his retirement. During a recent appearance on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Anthony discussed his decision to sign with the Lakers as a free agent and admitted he completely changed his perspective after joining the star-studded NBA team. "If I wouldn't have picked L.A., I would've been at peace walking away from the game knowing that I gave it everything I could, and I still couldn't win a championship… But now that I'm on the Lakers, I can't be at peace without winning the championship,” explained Anthony. The Lakers’ rooster currently includes ten players over 32, many of whom signed a one-year deal with the team just like Anthony. The 10-time All-Star told Noah they often hear that they’re old and “the senior citizen home of basketball”, but he feels they’re just wiser and know exactly what they can bring to the table. Before joining the Lakers on a free agency, Anthony spent most of his NBA career with Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks. He also had brief veteran stints with Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, and Portland Trail Blazers.
