Cameron Smith Crowned as a Winner of 150th Open Championship

The 150th Open Championship was one for the books, and it gave us many wild twists and turns. The winner was tough to call until the very last day, but Cameron Smith eventually managed to defeat Cameron Young by one stroke. Smith came into the tournament as world no. 6, but that didn’t stop him from beating the tough competition. He shot a final-round 64, with five successive birdies from the 10th, to defeat Young by one stroke and push Rory McIlroy to the third spot. Smith scored his best career result when he was a runner-up in the 2020 Masters Tournament, and this marks the first major win for the Australian player. "To have the 150th Open at St Andrews and to walk away with the win is something I've dreamt of. It's unreal to look at the names on this trophy and then see mine. I am definitely going to find out how many beers can fit in this jug, for sure," said Smith. Smith’s future on the PGA Tour remains open-ended, as more players switch to the LIV Golf series these days. Smith didn’t rule out the possibility of doing the same, saying that his “team worries about all that stuff” and that he’s simply there to win golf tournaments.
