Brian O'Neill Signs $92.5 Million Contract Extension with the Vikings

Brian O'Neill recently reached the end of his rookie contract with the Minnesota Vikings and agreed to a pretty lucrative extension. He’ll stay with this NFL team for a long, long time after signing a five-year contract extension, reportedly worth $92.5 million. According to Ian Rapoport, a national insider for NFL Network, O'Neill’s new contract comes with $22.6 million guaranteed at signing and $53.4 million in total guarantees. The new contract puts his yearly average at $18.5 million, making him the second-highest paid right tackle in the NFL. He failed to break the record held by Ryan Ramczyk, whose latest contract with the New Orleans Saints is worth $96 million for five years. After his contract extension was announced, O'Neill said it’s an honor and a privilege to keep playing for the Minnesota Vikings, and he’s happy to be able to keep doing it. “There was never really a doubt in my mind that something was going to get done. This is where I want to be. I want to be a Viking for my whole career,” stated the Vikings’ offensive tackle. O'Neill has been with the team since the beginning of his professional career. He was drafted by the Vikings in 2018, following a successful college football stint in Pittsburgh, and went on to play 42 games in Purple over his first three seasons.
