Blake Griffin Sings One-Year Deal with Boston Celtics
by privatebet.com - 2022/10/01
Blake Griffin switched several teams since the beginning of his NBA career, and he just found a new home. The veteran player and six-time All-Star signed a one-year, fully-guaranteed contract with the Boston Celtics. Griffin joins the Celtics after a rocky year with the Brooklyn Nets, where he spent a single year. He appeared in 56 games with the Nets last season, but only averaged a career-low 6.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. Things got rocky for Griffin after Steve Nash decided to remove him from a starting lineup in favor of LaMarcus Aldridge. The news of Griffin’s new deal with the Celtics comes shortly after Danilo Gallinari tore an ACL playing for Italy in FIBA World Cup qualifying. He’s expected to fill in as forward following Gallinari’s injury, but Robert Williams III’s recent knee surgery also might’ve played the role in his signing. Blake Griffin kicked off his professional NBA career in 2009 with the Los Angeles Clippers, where he spent almost a decade. His rise to prominence started in 2011 when he was selected as an All-Star for the first time, in addition to being named the NBA Rookie of the Year. He was later traded to the Detroit Pistons before joining the Nets and the Celtics as a free agent.
