Ben Simmons Will Likely Miss the Rest of the Season with Back Injury

The last few years have been quite rocky for Ben Simmons, and he’s yet to get back on track. According to the Brooklyn Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn, Simmons will most likely miss the rest of the season with a back injury. Simmons was diagnosed with a nerve impingement in his back earlier this week, and this injury put the rest of his season with the Nets in jeopardy. Vaughn eventually cleared the air and told reporters, “In all honesty, he’s probably not going to join us for the rest of the year.” Even before this diagnosis, Simmons’ time with the Nets was plagued with injuries. We haven’t seen him on the court since February 15 win over the Miami Heat, and he missed the Nets’ last 15 games with a knee injury and back inflammation. This news comes shortly after Vaughn told reporters that Simmons was making progress with his on-court work, but his latest diagnoses put his comeback in jeopardy. The final decisions on his return this season won’t be made until he meets with a back specialist, but it’s highly likely he won’t join the Nets lineup anytime soon. Simmons was no stranger to frequent injuries even before joining the Nets last year. He missed most of his last season with the Philadelphia 76ers, citing a back injury and mental health concerns as a reason for his absence, before being traded to the Nets in early 2022.
