Anthony Edwards has been on fire since joining the Minnesota Timberwolves as a rookie, and he’s not going anywhere. Ant-Man signed a new five-year deal with T-Wolves worth $260 million, hitting the designated rookie maximum extension along the way. The Athletic's Shams Charania reports that Edwards’s new deal is fully guaranteed with no options since the T-Wolves are trying to build a franchise around him. The 21-year-old NBA star confirmed he’s staying in Minnesota in a statement to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. "I'm humbled, appreciative, and excited to remain in Minnesota as a part of this incredible Timberwolves organization. It's amazing to see where hard work can take you," said Edwards. Wojnarowski also reported that Edwards is planning to introduce a new initiative in the Minnesota community as a part of his new deal. It’s called "Don't Follow the Wave", and Edwards is hoping he’ll be able to help as many young people as possible and set them on the right path. Edwards joined the Minnesota Timberwolves as the first overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft. He’s the fourth player from this draft class to receive a five-year max extension, joining Tyrese Haliburton, LaMelo Ball, and Desmond Bane. Edwards averaged a career-high 24.6 points per game this season and was also named to his first All-Star team.
