Andy Murray was expected to help out Great Britain win the upcoming Davis Cup, but that’s no longer his plan. The tennis champion announced he’ll be taking a break from this tournament after a recent loss to Alexander Zverev at Indian Wells. Murray made it to the third round of the BNP Paribas Open but lost out to Alexander Zverev on Tuesday night 6-4 7-6 (7-4). The British player said he was "disappointed" by the defeat, but added he’ll try to take positives from the match. Following his loss, he discussed the possibility of taking part in the Davis Cup and explained why he decided to skip it this time around. The 34-year-old tennis player said he’s given a lot to the Davis Cup over the years, and admitted that the tournament sometimes took a toll on his physical health. "Right now, I'm not planning on playing the Davis Cup, and with the late finish to it, and early departure to Australia, with my schedule between now and the end of the year, I am going to have to rest and take a break and give my body a chance to breathe,” explained Murray, adding he’ll also use the offseason to spend as much time as possible with his family.
