Allyson Felix Becomes the Most Decorated American Track and Field Athlete in Olympic History

Allyson Felix concluded her Olympic career at this year's Tokyo games, and she really went out with a bang. After winning the 4x400m relay with her teammates, she also secured the title of the most decorated American track and field athlete in Olympic history. Felix scored the gold medal alongside an all-star team, which also included Sydney McLaughlin, Dalilah Muhammad, and Athing Mu. This victory comes shortly after she won bronze in the 400 meters sprint relay, with Shaunae Miller-Uibo and Marileidy Paulino racing ahead of her. After securing her eleventh Olympic medal, Felix officially established herself as the most decorated American track and field athlete in Olympic history, breaking the record previously held by Carl Lewis. Paavo Nurmi of Finland still holds the all-time record with a total of 12 medals. This victory is especially significant for Felix since this marks her final Olympic outing. She's planning to retire by the time the 2024 Olympics in Paris roll around since she already gave it her all and doesn't want to go any further. “I feel at peace. I went out, had all the confidence in these amazing women. I wanted to take it all in one last time around, and it was special,” said the record-shattering sprinter.
