Alexander Zverev and Ashleigh Barty Dominate Cincinnati Open

Some of the world’s leading tennis players warmed up for the upcoming US Open in Cincinnati, and we couldn’t wait to see who’ll be crowned as the winner. Alexander Zverev and Ashleigh Barty eventually dominated the Western & Southern Open and easily defeated their rivals in the final match. Zverev’s victory comes shortly after he won the gold medal in singles at the Tokyo Olympics. His winning streak continued in Cincinnati, where he defeated Andrey Rublev 6–2, 6–3, cementing his statutes as one of the favorites at this year’s US Open. When it comes to women's singles, Ashleigh Barty demolished the competition and scored an easy victory against Swiss wildcard Jil Teichmann, 6-3, 6-1. The Australian player is currently ranked as no. 1 by WTA, so her Cincinnati victory didn’t come as a surprise, especially after her recent triumph at Wimbledon. The 2021 Western & Southern Open, commonly known as Cincinnati Masters, took place between August 15 and August 22. It’s the second-largest summer tennis event on American soil and it’s seen as a great overture for the US Open. Both Zverev and Barty could replicate their success when this Grand Slam tournament returns to New York City, between August 30 and September 12.
